Do you doubt God's mercy and compassion especially in the light of your sin?
Ahab craves a vineyard next to his palace, offers to either exchange it for another or buy from the owner but unfortunately it's family land, the owner Naboth can't sell it. This makes Ahab very sulky, it is in this state that his wife Jezebel finds him. He tells her about the vineyard and Naboths unwillingness to sell or exchange it; Jezebel gets it for him. Of course, Naboth has to die so that Ahab can get the land.
This angers the Lord who sends Elijah the prophet to admonish Ahab, who repents. God postpones the judgement to another time.
In context, Ahab was seriously evil but when he repents God is filled with compassion and defers his judgment. Read about Ahab here.
